Weekly Political Rant V.3

After 8 long years of American persecution of the Islamic world the reign of George Bush is finally over. And now our new President who lived part of his life in a majority Muslim country is finally trying to mend some of the fences that Bush and his cronies ran over with a semi. However, it'll take more than just rhetoric to get us to any sort of good relations with the Muslim world.

Removing American military forces from Iraq is a great starting point. And if we can be successful in Afghanistan that would be even better. But now that we have an opportunity to fix our relations with billions of people would should remember the mistakes we have made in the past. Using military might instead of diplomacy was part of what got us into this mess in the first place. Lets not do it again. While I support a surge in forces in Afghanistan we have to remember that the Muslim world has damn good reason to be suspicious of American military forces in their nations. We have to build bridges that aren't made through the blood of their religious brothers and sisters. But of a unified cause of creating a lasting and fair prosperous peace.
